Crispy fried onions

Serves: About 1 cup
Vegetarian!
Ingredients
Onions (small) 1lb
Slice the onions thinly. Should be about 2 cups.
cooking oil 1 cup
vegetable or peanut oil
turmeric 1/8 teaspoon
ground
sugar 1/2 teaspoon
white or turbinado
Step by Step Instructions
- Heat the oil in a skillet on low to medium heat. Add the onions and turmeric. Fry slowly stirring occasionally for 10 to 12 minutes, until the onions begin to turn color.
- Add sugar, stir well, and fry for about 2 more minutes. The onions should be a light golden brown. Remove them and drain on paper towels.
